inky pete
The last "affordable" homes built in Lymm went for over £150K each. Assuming a 10% deposit and the old 2 1/2 times combined income rule that would mean a young couple would need a combined income of £56,000 pa to raise the mortgage. High land prices don't just lead to higher property densities, they also mean that developers will build the highest price units they think they can possibly sell - and that won't ever be to ordinary local people with ordinary local jobs.
