P J
<interlude> Here's a timely diversion from Bored.com: http://www.officegamespot.com/freegames/trollface-sniper.htm Here's some help from Wiki how for anyone opening Fugtifinos link http://www.wikihow.com/Fake-Laugh
fugtifino
Hmm, WBC don't have that many vacancies posted these days, but there's currently 3 vacancies in the planning department, all at senior level or above. Wonder if these are additional or replacement jobs? Maybe related, but there's also a vacancy for a Communications Manager. http://www.warrington.gov.uk/site/scripts/recruit_jobs.php (these will disappear after the closing date). observer
They may need to review the Housing Needs Figures to accomodate the Bulgarians?!

fugtifino
Do you seriously think Warrington needs more market housing right now? Oh, and this: http://www.warrington-worldwide.co.uk/articles/15305/1/200-affordable-homes-approved/Page1.html

Oh, and this: http://www.warrington-worldwide.co.uk/articles/15305/1/200-affordable-homes-approved/Page1.html going by your own link obviously somebody believes there is a need for housing. Bazj
ahhh but those houses are OK because they are in Bewsey not in Winwick........ can't go attracting the wrong sort to live in Winwick with those cheap houses can we???
fugtifino
PJ - yes, the link is to a development for "affordable" (maybe even social?) housing, my question was about "market" housing. Baz - I don't give a toss about who lives in Winwick, you're barking up that wrong tree again. The Core Strategy clearly identifies brownfield sites as preferable for development ahead of any previously undeveloped land. If you feel strongly opposed to this approach, perhaps you should get your name on the list of attendees for this: http://www.warrington.gov.uk/download/downloads/id/3702/wcs_draft_prog_and_attendees_for_hearings-_v6_14_mar_2013
observer
..but if demand increases in population terms, the housing need increases and hence the justification for land to be released earlier than previously considered.
fugtifino
Well, yes, but that hasn't happened, and you're not turning this into yet another thread about the immigruntz. The housing market in general has been pretty slow for the last few years.
observer
"the housing market" is slow because most folk can't afford to buy; demand is up for rented (affordable) accomodation .
fugtifino
"the housing market" is slow because most folk can't afford to buy... Indeed, this isn't a planning consideration though.
Robbo
Not sure about this, but agree with fugs that brownfield developments should be considered before green field.
fugtifino
This document includes Satnam's plans for the rest of the site, including access roads through Ballater Drive playing fields: http://warrington-consult.limehouse.co.uk/file/2474649
Bazj
having looked at the document and the site plans, I really can't see the problem with the development. They plan to build houses in an area that is already surrounded by houses and has a motorway as one of the boundaries..... just my take on the situation. It is hardly green belt in the middle of nowhere is it?
observer
it's not designated as "green belt" in the UDP anyway, the case rests on appropriate timing for the land release.
fugtifino
...I really can't see the problem with the development... Then I sincerely hope that you don't have any role in any kind of planning decisions.

P J
Seems that affordable and social housing are being mentioned in the plan too Fugtifino. These are always very attractive phrases to Council box tickers.
fugtifino
Well, yes, they always were. This developer is so concerned about the lack of social housing that he's offering to build no more than the absolute minimum required. funny you should say that because......... Heh. Or to put it another way " the developer intends to provide at least as many affordable homes as recommended and also hopes to ease the strain on social housing in the area". The developer will obviously seek to maximise profit, they are a business and if you are objecting to developers building profitable developments one must seriously question your motives. fugtifino
I object to anyone making rather obscene amounts of profit at the expense of the general public. I'm just weird that way.
