wolfie
With powerful Cyclones, hurricanes, flooding and now earthquakes, I can't imagine too many people taking up the offer.

Jerry
Asp, you may be correct in your world -- but in the Midwest States across the water the word cyclone refers to dry wind storms and hurricanes defines water spouts coming ashore with the winds causing wet destruction. wolfie
Thanks Jerry. So stick that in your sailors pipe Asp.
asperity
I haven't got a hornpipe But I stick by what I said. A cyclone is the generic term for a low pressure system of which typhoons/hurricanes are extreme examples. The opposite, anticyclone is, of course, a high pressure system. With respect Jerry, in the US you can't even spell properly
