Bazj
Well as I have said before, much as I disagree with the concept of women only taxis, gyms, and everything else that is female single sex based (apart from certain films on channel 4 of course!!) Pink Ladies cannot be illegal because they are still trading and there must be a loophole. Loopholes are not illegal so exploiting loopholes is not illegal...(why do you think so many millionaires pay less tax than a bus driver? because there are loopholes which allow them to do it) I got pulled and fined ?30 for having darker side windows than the legal 30% limit. That is illegal and I got dne for it The fact thatthe car had passed 3 MOT's with the same windows was irrelavant... they are illegal and as such I have to change them So come on TD, change the record. They are not operating illegally, they are operating; at worse via a loophole which may or may not be closed at some stage. The Council are obviously not bothered because they have more important things to do like closing roads for resurfacing or putting up lights and causing congestion. At least Pink Ladies have newish looking cars, I saw a taxi today that was a K reg Sierra!! For gods sake thats knocking on for 15 years old. Is that safe to travel in? It must have some rust on the chassis by now so how safe would that be in a collision? and don't forget that the safety systems on that car have been far far superceeded over the years. The Sierra has NO airbags etc. Maybe the other taxi firms should get their own house in order as well?
reader
The whole point is, Private Hire Operator have to have their cars tested, have a PH Licence &etc - why are Pink Ladies excempt from this. I am not supporting PH Operators but anyone with any sense can see this argument.
Paul Kennedy
Don't all cars have to be MOT'd annually once they are 3......of course maybe PL vehicles are always less than 3 and they refuse to operate older vehicles such as K reg Sierras. tara_dad
HE HE, look its the council liceing. Licensing department job to act on this matter. . As even Gary will tell you that he as try one way or other to find out if the pink ladies are running illegal cars as the law stands now. Why are they not acting as until they go to the European court of human rites they will not act yet. So you should be asking the council licensing office why as Gary said he is chasing the story and he as not been given a reply yet one way or another. We are not bothered about the concept of ladies only cars or taxi there is a market for them. But they must be licensed by the council for the public?s safety. How many times do we have to say this? THIS IS A PUBLIC SATEY ISSUE Gary have you go any where with the questions you asked the transport department. Plus how can someone recommended something that as ruined and bankrupt peoples life and lead misery some on the brink of committing suicide and sill go in for business awards please tell me [ 08.10.2007, 17:37: Message edited by: tara dad ]

tara_dad
basz let hope no one get A real injury or worse to find out that the car or the insurance was not up to date and we can all say change the record. hay I and others know I lot more but as gary says you have be Careful what you say on here as this is his business. I will only say what`s fact on here which I and the PH union can backed up why do you think pink ladys will not reply!!! do you not think that with all this, they would be runing to their Solicitors on what I am saying on here. so role on can not wait we have the paper work ready. the same is with the council as well for not acting in the public best interest i have said before on here some of you would not know how or who to get in touch with on Complaining or how or what you would need to get. its is bad for information on complaining on any TAXI and PH matter [ 08.10.2007, 17:43: Message edited by: tara dad ]

Peter T
TD, You should know me better than that. There are TWO more words after jealous male. I am suggesting that it is more of a vendetta by "male" taxi drivers who object to Pink Ladies on commercial grounds rather than safety grounds. I am quite happy for you to put me right on Thursday night. TD, Replied to Tara's addy, but it got bounced back. pinkperson
Peter, Taras Dad is quite right with everything he says. Its not a matter of male organisations or trying to stop competition from Pink Ladies. What we have here is unfair competition in that Pink Ladies are clearly not properly Licensed and as such I would not like it to be my wife or my daughter who test out whether on not this invalidates their insurance in the event of an accident. Its not a difficult matter to get Licensed , especially if you have been operating as a Private Hire Company for over 2 years. So why do Pink ladies not License and silence all the critics. There can only be 2 possible reasons for this, a) that their drivers are NOT capable of passing the relevant tests.. or perhaps should I say not sufficient numbers of their drivers in order to keep the Company running , or b)The cost of getting Licensed and keeping properly checked is considered too high and Pink ladies enjoy the competitive advantage gained by NOT licensing. I also agree with Tara Dad in what he says about if people were not telling the truth on this forum then indeed Pink Ladies would have set their solicitor 'Friends' onto those people long ago. And also to mention the ex London Franchisee is now having to declare Bankrupcy after doing her best to try to keep afloat.
asperity
Forgive me if this has been covered already but I've been away for a while. The other day I saw a Pink Ladies taxi except it wasn't pink but green and had Pink Partner on the side. Same company I presume?

Pink'n'Proud
I am a Pink Lady, and here are a few FACTS. First and foremost, we ARE insured, the certificate is displayed on the office wall AT ALL TIMES for anyone to see. Moreover we have an additional bespoke insurance for added protection. The cars are serviced in accordance with the law, but should anything go wrong between times, they are repaired by a reputable garage, even if it's just a bulb. Each car is hand valeted inside and out, every week. I HAVE a badge, which means i've taken the knowledge test, had an enhanced police check and a medical exam. We do use "Sat Nav" set to the shortest distance and will follow it, unless the passenger wants us to follow her directions. We do get out of our cars and knock on the door. We NEVER sound our horn, then leave after 30 seconds. If a customer doesn't answer the door, we leave a "note" to say we called, If we pick up in town or outside a club, we will wait for 7 mins, during this time base will try to contact the passenger to inform them we are outside. If they don't turn up, a message is left for them. At the end of the journey, we don't drive off until the customer is inside the house. We do our best not to be late, and often times are early, we always turn up. If we are going to be late, base tries to contact the customer to inform them. The Green car is specially adapted to accomodate wheelchairs, members partners can travel in this car. We have just introduced a new service called Pink Partners. Some of the cars will be marked up with a Pink Partner logo. If a member wants to travel with her partner, she can request this service and her partner can accompany her in the car, as long as he enters and exits the car with her. So Ladies please be assured your safety and ours is paramount, and Gents your ladies have been and always will be safe with us. We are not out to steal business, given that others have 200 cars, that would be impossible, nor do we go around spreading untruths. We have been operating for over 2 years now, and we are here to stay.
