observer
Watched a TV prog about the study of an Amazonian tribe discovered in the 80s, straight out of the stone age. Should they be left alone in their ignorant bliss OR should we bring them into the 21st century?
algy
If they were discovered in the 80s' the damage has been done they are certainly to have been contaminated by our "advanced" civilization.
tonymailman2
Why oh why oh why would you want to subject these people to the crap of the 21st century ??
observer
Well, according to the prog: they were studied by anthropologists from all over the world, who visited and stayed with them AND brought trade goods, like steel axes and machetes etc; in return some of these "professionals" introduced them to sexual abuse. One US scientist even "married" an 11 yr old and took her to the States - she soon got fed up with the 21st C, saying that she couldn't understand how folk could live alone in boxes, and watch a box all day - rather than live and sleep amongst their wider families. They engaged in warfare with neighbouring tribes - apparently over the possession of women - so it seems conflict is built into our DNA - so no hope for the species.
