The 2nd Ammendment.

- to the US constitution - the right to bare arms; a treasured right it seems, but one which allows any deranged wacco to buy a fully automatic weapon from a gun shop and go on a killing spree. Presumably when the 2nd Ammendment was written, it was at a time of flintlock muskets/rifles, needed for hunting game or for being ready at minute's notice to snipe at British soldiers!

It was written in the days before the USA had a standing army, and specifically states -

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Since the USA now has a very large standing army to preserve its security, the whole Amendment is now pretty redundant.

We have 90 guns for every 100 Americans. The Congress is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Rifle Association. They oppose even the banning of armor piercing ammo -- allowing criminals to kill law enforcement officers wearing kevlar vests.

The only purpose for a 30 bullet clip for pistols is to kill human beings. They are unnecessary for 'sportsmen' or for law enforcement use or for target practice. But none dare suggest a limit on ammo clip capacity or sales.

The biggest supplier of guns and ammo here is our Wal-Mart stores.
