Lt Kije
No need for exclusion zones then
Bazj
.... and I suppose you pacifist war dodgers subscribe to the "hand back the Malvinas" train of thought? Â Sickens me what this country has become
observer
Indeed, no need for rules either; war is war, and the more horrible and disgusting it is, the less people may wish to engage in it - but somehow I doubt it.
Lt Kije
I have not once said that Baz  If the Belgrano had been sunk in the exclusion zone I would not have a problem
Bazj
Kije the "exclusion zone" was nothing more than pr bravado.... we didn't have exclusion zones in other wars..... it was merely a bit of British posturing which has been taken as almost a brick wall; beyond which one must not go.... Do you really think we would have shot down airliners flying overhead or attacked a cruise ship if it had strayed inside? of course not. Â We were at war with the Argies and we blew up their ship. It was war and shit happens in war....
observer
They were the enemy, so what's the prob? I've alluded to the planned use of a nuke on the Town of Ascension, delivered by a Vulcan bomber, which Ronnie vetoed. But there were other operations planned, but not carried out, and one SAS raid on a mainland Argie airbase that was aborted - the heli crew later appeared on Chilian TV news with a cover story. At the end of the day, war is the pursuit of politics by other means, and having committed to it, one HAS to win. The only other problem with war, is that it's outcomes can seldom be accurately predicted.
Lt Kije
If it had been war Baz we would have attacked the mainland
observer
That's my point - we did - but the SAS raid was aborted.
