Peter T Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Congrats to the council. (Front Page News) However, can someone explain to me who decides what boxes need ticking, and how their is no relationship (apparently) to the real world. eg the travellers on Cartridge Lane. Perhaps the council employ an NVQ box ticker? Quote
observer Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 The MarksIST Leadership seems to be working?! Quote
KeithR Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Having had a good look at the results. I was amazed at the similarity in many cases with other councils in this area, but when you consider that in most cases the questions were based on 2 options. 1 Have services deteriorated 2 Have services stayed the same or improved Surely the second option should have been split. So if everything stays the same it could be taken that they have also improved  One area that stood out was the question:- The % of people within 20mins (by car, walking, cycling etc) of 3 different sports facilities and Warrington only came out with a figure of 6.5% compared to Knowsley 40% Vale Royal 52.33% Halton 35.62% Why such a big difference  Quote
McBain Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 New Town planning didn't think that sports pitches within walking distance were important - it was all done in the 1980's when car was king Quote
asperity Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Keith did say by car, bike walking etc. I cannot believe the figure of 6.5% for people within 20 minutes car journey, I mean you can drive through the town in 20 minutes (on a quiet day anyway)  Quote
wolfie Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Yes, but would you pass 3 different sports facilities??? Quote
asperity Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Who said anything about "passing" 3 different sports facilities? I would have thought that most parts of Warrington are within a 20 minute car journey from at least 3 sports facilities. Quote
observer Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Correct - "on a quiet day"! Broonfields - Woolston - Fordton: no probs! Quote
asperity Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Well I've gone from Penketh to Manchester airport through Warrington centre (Bridge Foot et al) in less than 30 minutes. Admittedly it was by taxi, but even so it shows Warrington isn't that vast. Quote

So why as Keith asked did the report state that only 6.5% of Warrington people live within 20mins of at least 3 sports facilities  Quote
wolfie Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Just had a look at the audit commission report and the exact question was % of the population that are within 20 minutes travel time (urban - walking; rural - driving) of a range of 3 different sports facility types, at least one of which has achieved a quality mark. The answer was as Keith stated 6.5%, so I'm as confused as him now. Maybe there are'nt any with a quality mark. Quote
asperity Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Well that would explain it, no quality. Quote
little fella Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 driving at the legal speed of 30 MPH that is 10 miles covered in 20 minutes Quote
Tilly Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Erm, back to original post Peter, waht is is with you and NVQ's Quote

Peter T Posted February 10, 2008 Author Report Posted February 10, 2008 Tilly, NO. I just think there is no substitute for proper training. Apart from being 2nd rate, they are expensive, as with most things these days, Even risk assessments are OTT. Quote
tonymaillman Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 Good point Peter, what exactly DOES an NVQ prove ??? Quote
asperity Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 Why are we in the wrong thread??  Quote
Paul Kennedy Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 Didn't get the NVQ in web communications Quote
Dizzy Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 Three threads on the forum all seem to be blending into one I'm confused .. does anyone know who I am and where I should be... Is big brother testing us ? :scared: :scared: Quote
