Wirewire
All quiet on here, so thought I'd start the debate about who our best team will be for next year, as we now know that we won't be adding to the squad. I'd go for:- 1 Hodgson 2 King 3 Atkins 4 Bridge 5 Hicks 6 Briers 7 Myler 8 Morley 9 Monaghan 10 Carvell 11 Anderson 12 Westwood 13 Clarke Bench: Higham Harrison (using him as an out and out prop next season) Wood Solomona That leaves Riley, Grix and Cooper sidelined, together with the usual dual registered players. I think Clarke will need to find a new position if he's going to be a regular starter - he isn't as good as Monas and isn't an impact player (too slow around the ruck/play the ball), so that puts him behind Higham. He has pace, good hands and a decent rugby brain, so he could switch to a "ball playing" 13. I can't see Harrison continuing at 13 - I think with his strength and durability he'll make a great prop forward and be Mozza's long term replacement. Grossly under-rated Prop who carried the side through a few bad seasons and then got his rewards in 1974. It was ironic though, that Parry Gordon and Brian Brady, who had been the mainstays of the side in the pre-Murphy era, were the two who were injured at Wembley and didn't complete the game. Unfortunately Brian was burnt out at 30, the side depended on him too much, but what a fine prop forward, yet another Wiganer starring for Warrington. 14. Harry Major 15. Les Boyd 16.
