minty
This inaugural solo exhibition by Stockton Heath artist Jeni McConnell brings together selected objects, documents and images from four disparate public collections in the Borough of Halton, including Norton Priory Museum and Catalyst Museum. The exhibition focuses on the history of the area since Medieval times and in particular how the abundant local raw materials of oak, Cheshire salt, Lancashire coal and water brought people to this place and provided them reasons to stay and develop the area from a sleepy backwater, to 'the Montpelier of Manchester' (Ingram, 1947), to the dominant alkali industry on which Halton's industrial heritage is based. Artists talk: Tuesday 14th September, 6pm-8pm Exhibition: until 6th October 2010 Venue: The Brindley, Runcorn, WA7 1BG | 0151 907 8230
