wolfie Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 Kim Cattrall has accepted an honorary fellowship from Liverpool university She told the audience that she was proud of her Liverpool roots. Well her Liverpool roots consist of being born and living in Widnes for 12 months, then moving to Canada until the age of 11. Moving to London until she was 16 and then returning to Canada. Eh ............. What Liverpool roots? Quote
Legion Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 according to the old wikipedia, IMDB, and who do you think you are tv Cattrall was born in Mossley Hill, Liverpool, England. so it will be them I rekon Quote
KeithR Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Firstly, Wikipedia is wrong. Catrall's own home page states that she was born in Widnes. http://www.kimcattrall.net/ Secondly, she like many others are not proud of their roots. MelC - born in Whiston hospital but lived in Widnes. Sue Johnson born in Warrington but insists that she is a true scouser. Paul O?Grady born in Birkenhead. All of them are more concerned with their careers than being proud of their roots. Quote
safeway56 Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Leaving aside Ken Dodd and footballers, name a famous scouser who still lives there. Quote
wolfie Posted July 13, 2010 Author Report Posted July 13, 2010 Talk to any 'scouser' in Warrington, Widnes, Runcorn, Winsford, St Helens etc you would swear they ALL still live there. Quote
AdrianR Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 scouser living in warrington. Birth only and never lived there. However still on my birth certificate and cannot change that. How do I feel? Apathetic really. Consider myself more of a northerner than a scouser and far prouder of that than being born somewhere I have only known second hand. Quote
Lt Kije Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I was born in Firs Maternity Hospital in Leigh, And for those people who have never been to Leigh it just happens to be in the exact centre of the known universe Quote
Bazj Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 My little boy was born in the Womens Hospital in Toxteth, Liverpool (I note for equalitys sake that there is no Liverpool Mens hospital!) He lived in Liverpool for all of 5 days and now supports Man Utd!! I was born in Victoria Park Maternity Home (which is now a restaraunt I believe?) The shame of being born in Latchford however, haunts me to this day!! Quote
Sue Durnim Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 [quote="Baz J"I was born in Victoria Park Maternity Home (which is now a restaraunt I believe?) So was I, and still proud to be a Warringtonian! Quote
Gary Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Liverpool born, Warrington bred - and proud of my roots which can be traced back to the Vikings (and not the Widnes variety!) Quote
Sheila_P Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I am also a product of Victoria Park Nursing Home. Latchford, loud and proud Quote

Gary, you didn't let me down. Just wish I could have got odds on you posting. Also NOTHING to do with the topic. Quote
Mary Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I am proud of my roots - mother was a product of Victoria Park Hospital and I wish I could come back and stay! Quote
Legion Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Firstly, Wikipedia is wrong. Catrall's own home page states that she was born in Widnes. http://www.kimcattrall.net/ so wikipedia and the bbc filmiing with kim in front of them...in liverpool, for a documentary about her life.where she herself says "Born in liverpool" and virtualy every other website that mentions here birth...all wrong but this ONE FANSITE is correct ? from the site> This fan site is dedicated to the beautiful Kim Cattrall. Please note I am just a fan and not affiliated with her in any way. And as for roots, I was born in St Mary's hospital, London, my father was a Londoner as was his father etc. etc. My mothers-fathers family heralded from Lymm all the way back to 1500 and something (possibly 1100 if I can establish one more very likely link) and her mothers side from Ireland But I am a Warringtonian, if I ever got famous (unlikely) London would have no claim to me nor would Lymm or Ireland. I have lived here most of the time for 36 of my 42 years...What right have widness to claim her even if she was born there, if she felt she had any connection to the place she would at least acknowledge it...she doesn't. wolfie Posted July 18, 2010 Author Report Posted July 18, 2010 Which brings us back to the point of the thread, like others before her she refuses to accept her place of birth. Interestingly she doesn't say herself about being born in Liverpool - just that whenever she thinks of family she thinks of Liverpool. There is no doubt that her family came from Liverpool, but they moved shortly before her birth. But even the Liverpool Echo acknowledge's that she was born in Widnes http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/capital-of-culture/capital-of-culture-liverpool-news/2008/01/01/the-scouserati-the-366-most-influential-scousers-on-the-planet-100252-20305671/4/ Quote
safeway56 Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 According to Wiki she was born in Mossley Hill Quote
