Jerry
I missed this film about illegal aliens in London when it was released. Now on DVD I find it's an extremely literate and interesting take on the problem. Of course the writer makes the main character a saint and the female lead a virgin -- so it's easier to sympathize with their plight. Very good cinema. Excellent writing and casting. A must see for anyone with a conscience.
Adam
I am sure you are right about this film, Jerry. Not seen it, nor even heard of it myself. But who thinks of the titles for films these days.? This one would put me off wanting to see it - even on TV.
Jerry
I think that's why I passed it originally. Some critic said it's about illegals having it prostitute themselves. There was only one of them in the story and I don't think she was illegal. Just using the Baltic Hotel for her business. My grandson (age 19) brought the DVD to study film technique. All the characters were foreigners -- the exploiters and the victims. My grandson said near the end "I didn't see one white Brit in the whole movie!"
