observer Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 May 1940, and Admiral Ramsay organised the rescue of 300,000 troops of the BEF from Dunkirk, with the help of a fleet of civilian Sunday sailors and their small boats - turning defeat into a, sort of, victory. Quote
harry hayes Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 T'was a great adventure in the eyes of a seven year old boy. Think it was a bad retreat/defeat in France and been softened over the years into a kind of victory. A miracle armada saved the day. What genius thought up the little ship adventure and what a crackpot he would have been if the scheme had failed. Those were the days when everybody was patriotic and believed in the greatness of our country. Happy days Quote
