Dizzy
I most certainly did... but at least it's nice to know at last where I really stand in the 'forum food chain' though..... Dizzy
Waltonian
Not sure of the dates but the Stop notice required fairly prompt action and indeed most of the vans disappeared. I wondered why Warrington had not done the same thing in Walton. But the vans then started reappearing and last night it was looking busy again. Dizzy
Hi Waltonian and welcome to the forum and thanks for the update Bit odd that they went and came back again... the stop/removal notice apparently said the site had to be vacated 28 days after May 6 so they had plenty of time Maybe the other lot moved off and a new lot have moved on the so process has to be restarted. As for the Walton site.. that has planning permission to be a traveller site and has been there for years so they are doing nothing wrong
Waltonian
Now I'm not terribly good with facts but I do know the Walton gang moved in without planning permission on a Friday evening so that council officials couldn't do anything. They resisted every attempt to remove them through the planning process by appealing, and perhaps threw more resources at it than Warrington. They broke most of the conditions on their temporary status. (Ask WBC) It is possible they have now established some sort of truce. Won't the same happen in Daresbury? Dizzy
Same could happen in Daresbury I suppose but not all councils are as soft as WBC.... like you say the Planning Inspectorate gave the ongoing temporary permission for the Walton Site though The Walton site now has 'temprary' approval until December 2014 and considering the original 'tempory' approval was given way back in 1996 by the time the extended one expires they will have been living there for 18 years and as such it is unlikely that the families will ever be evicted from their long standing home environment..... it is also restricted to no more than 15 families. In all fairness to them though they have never caused any trouble round here (which could be because they know they are on an ongoing 'temporary' licence which needs renewing from time to time) and most of them are very polite. Only criticism I do have (and only over the past 6 months or so) is that some of the very young teenage drivers from the site do seem to be driving their large vans and trucks/wagons a bit too fast
Peter T
Can't they claim squatters rights after 20 years?
Waltonian
Given the way these things work, should we be worried that land between the nursery and the grass field on Chester Road at Walton is being cleared
Pedro
Is that the field where turf is grown ?? new signs indicate the turf is now for sale to public at weekends. Lots of fields around where travellers could move on to if they wanted to - the big problem is when the travellers buy a field (and there are many willing landowners/farmers) and set up a caravan site without planning permission. Over the last ten years the problem of illegal travellers' sites has been exacerbated by the Irish Government tidying up their countryside - will we ever get round to doing the same ?
