The so called North/South divide was a term used when Labour was in power, mainly by those disgruntled by the fact that a fair share of the town's cash was being spent in deprived areas that actually needed it.

That terminology is however no longer applicable, under the leadership of Marks & Co. The divide is now very clearly between Lymm and the rest of the town!

You will have LP after you now for that comment Sha.

Many people still seem to think of the Manchester Ship canal as being the divider between Warrington North and Warrington South. Daft eh and I guess many will never change that view :?

Know what you mean.. confusing or what.

I always thought that Great Sankey and Penketh etc were North and Woolston and Birchwood were South  but according to the government statistics website this is who is in which bit :?

WARRINGTON NORTH BOROUGH CONSTITUENCY (71,868). Ten wards of the Borough of Warrington:- Birchwood, Burtonwood and Winwick, Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft, Fairfield and Howley, Orford, Poplars and Hulme, Poulton North, Poulton South, Rixton and Woolston, Westbrook.

WARRINGTON SOUTH BOROUGH CONSTITUENCY (75,114). Twelve wards of the Borough of Warrington:- Appleton, Bewsey and Whitecross, Grappenhall and Thelwall, Great Sankey North, Great Sankey South, Hatton, Stretton and Walton, Latchford East, Latchford West, Lymm, Penketh and Cuerdley, Stockton Heath, Whittle Hall.

Doesn't matter really as we all come under the same leaking umbrella

You jest, but you are actually right. Our home-grown and elected representatives are in the middle of trying to sell off the remaining council facility in Lymm village centre and the tactics in play are a disgrace. There's not another ward in Warrington so exploited as a cash cow by endless and inappropriate planning permissions to generate more Council Tax whilst being completely starved of capital project funding. Matter of record.
