asperity Posted February 21, 2010 Author Report Share Posted February 21, 2010 It failed because it couldn't keep up with the free market economies of the world, not just in the production of weapons but in the production of anything innovative. observer Posted February 22, 2010 Report Share Posted February 22, 2010 I doubt that any country in the world (going back), could keep up with the arms spending of a nation that spends more on it's military than the next seven nations combined, yet has 20% of it's population living below the poverty line - but perhaps with China now owning 30% of US debt, we do have a contender! The poverty line in the USA is at a level that would seem like decadent affluence to a majority of people on the planet, including Communist Russia.
