Paul Kennedy Posted January 30, 2010 Report Share Posted January 30, 2010 Indeed. It is not acceptable to divert crops or land that could be used for food, in to fuel production. A couple of years ago when there was a big push on bio fuels, it lead to a rapid rise in the price of staple foods, which particularly hurt the poorest in the world, and as I recall lead to food riots in some countries. It is morally bankrupt to have "the haves" driving around in cars and using energy without restriction etc, whilst "the have nots" are starving because crops that they rely on for food have been used for fuel.
