Do you have a favourite TV theme tune?

Sometimes the TV theme tune was better that the programme or series it was introducing.

My favourite theme tunes include: Thunderbirds, The Persuaders, Man from Uncle, World Inaction and many more, from the present day, the BBC?s ?The Hustle?, this theme tune reminds me of classic shows from the 70?s.

If ?Wire FM? are reading this topic, it could be well worth a hour radio slot just on TV tunes.

Has anyone else got any favourite TV theme tunes from the present or that we may have forgotten about?

Jeeves and Wooster. Brilliant tune. From childhood "White Horses" and "Robinson Crusoe" - dire programmes, great tunes! Amazing how many stick in your head isn't it?

The theme to Black Beauty is called "Galloping Home" and you could buy it at the time as a single. My youngest sister used to burst into tears every Sunday night when it played. I'd forgotten that..... :)

Don Lang & His Frantic Five - 1957

(Over the points, over the points, over the points, over the points)

The Six-Five Special's steamin' down the line

The Six-Five Special's right on time

Coal in the boiler burnin' up 'n bright

Rollin' and a-rockin' through the night

My heart's a-beatin' 'cause I'll be meetin'

The Six-Five Special at the station tonight

The Six-Five Special better not be late

The Six-Five Special, platform eight

The train starts a-brakin' hard as can be

The station is a-shakin' like a tree

And I won't be missin' that special kissin'

When the Six-Five Special brings my baby to me

Hear the whistle blowin' twelve to the bar

See the lights a-glowin' bright as a star

Now the wheels a-slowin', can't be far

(Over the points, over the points, over the points, over the points)

The Six-Five Special's steamin' down the line

The Six-Five Special right on time

Coal in the boiler burnin' up 'n bright

Rollin' and a-rockin' through the night

The Six-Five Special at the station tonight

Follyfoot was "The Lightning Tree" wasn't it? "grow, grow the lightning tree, never too late for you and me" sort of caper. Think I did like that. My Mum bought the Van der Valk one. She drove me mental with it! I also have HR PuffnStuff on VHS tape somewhere.... Witchypoo, Jimmy and all.... misspent youth or what?!

i seem to remember h r puffnstuff with Jack wilde? was it

the double deckers were the ones on the bus with Melvyn Hayes.

do not have the mp3s to those. one i did spot in my list was the water margin. cannot remember the story line to it just that the opening titles had a load of guys in oriental dress and strange hair styles running through a water logged field.

if you let this one play out you will get the theme tune.

also noticed two that always seemed to be on during the school holidays. the Flashing Blade and Robinson Crusoe.

Evil Sid, LymmParent...Flashing Blade, I remember from Saturday mornings and Virginian from Sunday afternoons.

Ahhhhhh.....memories, can any remember Belle and Sebastian and in the school holidays they were always showing Laurel and Hardy, Key Stone Cops and Shirly Temple Films? During the 60's and 70's inbetween programmes they would show cartoons of Bugs Bunny, Silvestor, Road Runner, Tom & Jerry etc? Also can anyone remember MARINE BOY or was Aqua Marine Boy cartoon?

I have gone off topic, sorry!

Off topic is usually more fun round here, Sue!

He was Marine Boy, but the lyrics of the song went "Marine Boy, Aqua Marine Boy" I remember that one! Stingray too with "Marina, Aqua Marina"...

Thanks Sid for Smith & Jones, which put me in mind of The Waltons, The Beverly Hillbillies and The Dukes of Hazzard too. Banjos at 20 paces!

got quite a few of those as mp3s. have about 121 TV themes.

brother used to do a music quiz on a chat forum and has loads of them that he used. he also did me some of people who you would not normally associate with making records.

John Wayne "let america ring"

Jack Palance "the green green grass of home"

Mae West "twist and shout"

Cassius Clay "stand by me" this one is quite good he has a good singing voice.
