observer Posted January 16, 2010 Report Share Posted January 16, 2010 Dan Snow is doing a brilliant history of the Royal Navy and it's contribution to our imperial past (BBC 2 Fri): lots of interesting detail emerging - too much to quote I'm afraid - but one point of interest was the activities of Turkish Pirates during the reign of James I, when they raided west country ports and actually took folk as slaves back to N/Africa.
