New Year drunks should pay for hospital care?

It would really be nice to the drunk people that they are not paying the medical or hospital bills. If they are not obeying the law for the case then they might really need to pay the bills. To test if they are drunk is, test their breath.

That makes sense - I think, or maybe not :shock::?:?:?

I will ask again. Qualify drunk.

If I have 3 pints I am NOT drunk nor do I misbehave, but I could be attacked for no reason at all whilst walking home, and end up in hospital. Should I be expected to pay and if so, WHY?????

The breathalyser determines whther a person is fit to drive.

The answers are in the original opening post of this thread:

"Those admitted to hospital for less than 24 hours with acute alcohol intoxication should be charged the NHS tariff cost for their admission of 532 pounds."

Drunk in this case is when the doctor says you need to be in hospital because you've had too much alcohol to be let out safely. You get charged if that's the ONLY reason you are admitted. So no, you don't get charged if your admission is for assault, even if you are drunk when assaulted.
