indy
Here is the latest film shot, edited and produced today !!! Since the age of just 15 years old Archaeologist & Historian James balme has been searching the landscape for evidence of our past and reaching out to touch history. Now join James as he takes us to the place where he first became involved in archaeology - South Trafford Archaeological Group based in Altrincham in Cheshire. He was a member of the group when it first launched in 1979 and since that time the group has seen BBC archaeologist Michael Wood attend the group as a boy and Mark Olly ( Granada TV Historian ) was also a member of the group. But it was under the guidance of the Group's founder Derek Pierce that James developed his passion for history and archaeology and in 2001 Derek joined James for his archaeological documentary ' The History Hunters' telling the story of archaeological discoveries from around the Northwest of England. Derek joined James in his next documentary ' the King's Grave' filmed during a two week excavation at the Roman settlement uncovered by James in a nearby village in Cheshire. Derek Pierce is a legend in archaeological circles in the Northwest of England and James has the greatest respect for Derek, indeed James is aware of the great debt of gratitude that he owes to Derek for the inspiration and knowledge that he has passed to James in those formative years. bibEpigue
Not sure you could call them recreational hikers, or the first, since people had been here for more than 10,000 years. However, it is an event worth noting
