Paul Kennedy
As Newcastle Brown Ale will no longer be brewed in the Newcastle area, but in future will be brewed at Scottish & Newcastle's Tadcaster, Yorkshire brewery, should it be renamed. I understand that it was first brewed in 1927, in a brewery next door to Newcastle's football ground, indeed it remained there until 2005 when it moved down the road to Gateshead. There has been much discussion in the past regarding the names of products that indicate where they come from, Palma ham, Stilton cheese and Melton Mowbray pork pies come to mind.
