So how much tax should a rich person pay then Obs and Kije? do we tax the millionaires to a point where they take home as much as a binman?

 

A bloke earning 5 million a year will still pay more money into the system paying 5 or 10% than your average worker and if he has started a business that employs 30 or 40 people; will also be responsible for generating more tax revenue because of it

 

Add to that Corporation tax, Class 1 NIC tax and countless others, even a small business like mine coughs up enough in tax in a year to keep 20 single mums in fags and booze for a good few months

Well it's interesting that over the 12 years of this Government, the wealth gap has increased substantially. Now super tax used to be over 80%; Maggie knocked it down to 60%, then 40% and Bliar did nothing to change that - thus explaining the current wealth gap.

But how do you define the wealth gap Obs.... or is it the jealousy gap? Surely you don't expect someone running a multimillion pound business to be on the same pay level as a toilet cleaner do you?

 

This government is already trying to mess with the injustices (as it sees them) and have caused a strike in Leeds that has seen rubbish go uncollected for 4 weeks or more. They are tinkering by saying that some jobs should be scaled the same as some other jobs and if that involves downscaling the pay by ?5,000 a year then that is fine!!

 

The wealth creators should be encouraged not battered with a jealous tax.

Not quite sure of my figures on this - but top earners (CEOs) used to get around 5 times the average on their pay-rolls - thats now soared to around 100 times. As for these characters "creating wealth" - not sure we can say that about the Banking fraternity can we?!
