JayC Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Peter. The Reading keeper was fantastic yesterday he was the difference between the 2 teams. I did feel sorry for the lad who got sent off it was a Yellow card foul and did not merit the straight Red. Looks like Wayne Rooney is out for at least 2 months with a fracture of his foot. Eagle Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 It was an over the top studs up tackle and the red card was correct. I just hope that all referees now do the same. The difference between the teams was the fact that Reading's tactics worked whilst United's didn't. Quote
Matty Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 What price a Van Nistelrooy yesterday? Quote
JayC Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Eagle. It was the lads first tackle of the game he had only been on the pitch 37 seconds before he walked the vast majority of referees would have booked the player. Yellow should have been waved and not the red. John Quote

JayC Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 And I am sure not our last , but thats Football for you. John Quote
Peter T Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 According to Graham Poll(ex ref) it was a red card and the ref. in charge is one of the best at decisions like that. Quote
JayC Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Peter. Would that be the same Graham Poll who showed the same player 3 yellow cards in one game, he's hardly a voice of reason I would listen too , as for Rob Styles he has a dreadful referee. John Quote
Eagle Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Steve Coppell agreed with the red, he said "It was over the top and late and correctly punished" [ 13.08.2007, 13:20: Message edited by: Eagle ] Quote

John But perhaps they "both" have a tad bit more knowledge than we have. Quote
JayC Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Peter. Yes you would think that but Styles has a reputation of bottling it in front of the home crowd whether thats at Man U , Chelsea or Liverpool, and while we are on the subject of referees if I was a Villa fan I would be peeved at Mike Riley he was conned by Gerrard who went on to score what is likely to be the goal of the month if not season. Peter T Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 I think the refs have myopia when they have an England player doing things. They seem to get away with more. Shearer was always elbowing someone in the face, and rarely got into trouble for it. Quote
