observer
By the Government's own estimates, electricity consumption will exeed power station supply in 8 years time, raising the spectre of black-outs. Errm, so why are they sat round "talking" about it - just get some power-stations built asp, and ensure they are built by British workers, thus ensuring power supplies and creating employment - or is that toooo simple? asperity
The planning for new power stations should have started 10 years ago, but unfortunately government ministers have been overcome by "Green" ideas hence the futile race to cover the entire country with next to useless, very expensive wind farms. Of course the idiots responsible for this fiasco aren't bothered because they won't be in power when the manure hits the big whirling thing. In fact they will probably be sat nice and comfortable in Strasbourg with plenty of electricity supplied by French NUCLEAR power stations. Lt Kije
I half agree with both of you, but to be fair the last Tory administration did not want to tackle power either, nobody wants a power station on there door step. Our Power Industry has been up Sh*t creek for 20 years, even the new gas power stations cannot produse enough power it has to be coal or nuclear and if you want gas the Russians control the tap Ps The French will be biulding our new nuclear power stations
Dizzy
So I guess the price of candles will start to rocket now as people start to stockpile candles in anticipation Beeswax or Paraffin... which is better and cheaper any idea? Although 'they' may want us to use paraffin based ones as isn't that a by-product from processing crude oil

observer
Seems the eco-warriors will be employing direct action at a coal-fired power station soon, so maybe their wish to take us back into the stone age will be fullfilled. btw, when and where do these characters work? Lt Kije
We do seem to have more eco warriors than the French, and they seem to have more Nuclear power stations, Perhaps we could do a swap, Hippies for power
