Eagle Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Given the state of the country would Brown be best served by calling an election now and make plans for a Labour return five years hence? Quote
Paul Kennedy Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Yes, and there is still time to have it on June 4th. Quote
Dizzy Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Well that's me put in my place  Maybe I should have run up the road to try and catch the low life skallies who were hanging about and having a sneaky look in someones garage round here 15 minutes ago. You never know they may well have managed to stop me from whinging Quote
Peter T Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Lab. won't want to get back in, in 5 years time. It will take a lot longer than that to sort this financial mess out and they need a clean slate to mess up. Quote
observer Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 We seem to be operating on 15 - 18 year cycles now; with the ovine voters queing up to vote for the fire, when they get fed up with the frying pan. Perhaps the best we can hope for is a hung Parliament - yes, hang 'em all! Quote
Paul Kennedy Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Didn't think that you supported Capital Punishment, Observer. Quote
observer Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 I don't, but this would be more like summary justice - after all, Egypt are killing all their pigs! Quote
observer Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Notice (Bliar II) Wavy Davy Cameron, is promising a Council Tax freeze, if we vote for the Tories - errm, but he doesn't mention the consequent cuts in public services?! Quote
Eagle Posted May 5, 2009 Author Report Posted May 5, 2009 Taking out one of the levels of management would be a start. Quote
Peter T Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 - errm, but he doesn't mention the consequent cuts in public services?! Â Are there any left?? Quote
observer Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Of course - you just finish up without ANY public services! The equation has always been fairly straight forward - high taxes and higher levels of public service; or low tax levels and less public services. The Tories can't change, it's in their DNA. Quote
asperity Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 As opposed to the NuLiebour style of higher taxes and less public services I suppose? Quote
wolfie Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 I like the Tories latest slogan - 'Vote for Change' Â Isn't that what everyone did to get rid of em? Â A more accurate slogan for most parties would be - Â 'Vote for change and get more of the same !!!' Quote
observer Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 The reason you havn't got public services Asp; is because Maggie privatised most of them, and this shower never had the bottle to re-nationalise them. As for the equation; the Tories believe in a low tax economy, = minimal public services, = increased poverty, = increased crime, = increased social instability. Quote
asperity Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 That doesn't explain why public services are declining while taxes are going up. And you can't keep blaming Maggie and the Tories because, after all, this shower have been in power for over 12 years now!! Quote
observer Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 If you read my posts properly, you would note that I did blame "this shower" too, for not re-nationalising them; they've thrown money at problem after problem, without any cost benefit analysis, and without securing control and ownership of such things as our railways for example; and (under EU pressure) they're even going to sell out our postal services. Quote
observer Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Pls stop agreeing with me, your supposed to be supporting the EU pressure to privatise our post office! Quote
