James P
Saturday, September 1 2007 - Top of the league. "You can only dream what we have achieved." Well known quote on the Kop, take note :biggrinbounce:
Peter T
James, You didn't answer the question? How long?
wolfie
James. Poos last League Championship was before you were born.
James P
Hardly. Can't see as that matters any way. Shame you United fans don't have the capacity to appreciate great clubs who have achieved more than you
Eagle
There is no disputing the fact that Liverpool are a 'big' club, I don't use the word great since you cannot attach it to a football club. Liverpool have had some great teams, unfortunately a reality check suggests that this current team isn't one of them. But if it makes you happy keep living in the past, you can't beat a bit of nostalgia. I found it useful in United's barren League Champion years. How many years has it been for you lot so far? James P
To long! but I'm suprised you can remember that far back, I thought United fans couldn't remember past 1993?
Peter T
James, Does Gary give you private lessons on evading the issue? You would make a good politician.

Gary
Liverpool 30 United 29 - that suits me. Doesn't matter how many in one season - historically Liverpool are the most successful club in England - FACT! If you add the Mickey Mouse League Cup as well (which I believe was very important the season United won it - but worthless when they got hammered by Liverpool at Cardiff) they are the most successful club by a country mile! Thanks for the info Eddie!
Eagle
'Historically' Yep, that's the cover up for the fact that you are well down the current list of achievers. And please stop quoting the CHAMPIONS League, you haven't been champions for donkey's ages and shouldn't even have been in the competition. Eddie
Historically betamax was a better system than vhs, which is just as well considering most of Poo's achievements were recorded on betamax.
Gary
Not seen United calling it any different when they have been involved when Chelsea were Champions. "Liverpool - historically the greatest team in England of all time!"
Eagle
When Chelsea were champions,United and the other alsorans should not have been in it. Unless it is renamed The European Cup for the teams that have finished high enough to fit the current criteria and the instructions of the TV paymasters There can be only one champion team in each country

Matty
53 teams should be enough. I think that only the champions of each association should be put forward in the champions league. Clubs should place much more focus on trying to win their domestic league than finishing 2nd/3rd or 4th.
asperity
I think you're all losing sight of the fact that Besiktas were rubbish and would have been well beaten by any Premiership side on the night. The time for crowing is when you have the silverware in your grubby paws otherwise you end up with egg on your face
Geoff Settle
Yes point taken we'll just treat the match against fulham as another game when Liverpool run out for Rafael Benitez' 200th game in charge, four days after thrashing Besiktas 8-0 - the biggest win in Champions League history. asperity
You would best do just that Geoff, i.e. don't count your chickens and all that

Geoff Settle
I suppose it was a double celebration what with the new stadium approval and all....
asperity
And after the Lord Mayor's Show........ The Poo supporters are very quiet today after their win against Fulham (a team that hasn't won away from home for over twelve months!!) One goal from a mis-hit shot and another very dodgy penalty (Crouch tripped over his own feet outside the area). Premiership winning form? I think not somehow but you can keep dreaming I suppose!
