observer
With the full might of the US Navy now closing in on the "pirates" of Somalia; they have surrounded 3 of them in a life boat, with one US hostage - and it appears to be a stand-off! asperity
It would be no easy task to kill the pirates without harming the hostage. The lifeboat involved will be full enclosed with two entrances only, easy to defend!!
asperity
Well thats proved me wrong!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7996087.stm Sounds like a brave man
Bazj
maybe now they will stop pussy footing around and go a-huntin' pirates!! Sink and kill as many as they can....
asperity
That would seem to be the best way forward, but will our glorious "leaders" get their fingers out and stop the pussy-footing?
observer
As I said the last time this was posted: sink every single boat along the coast of Somalia - no boats = no pirates!

observer
Another idea, I was reminded of the other day: during WW2, the Brits used "Q" ships, which were fully armed ships disguised as merchant vessels, in order to lure "U" boat to their deaths. So why not, a few "Q" ships, sailing up and down the Somali coast, blowing these "pirates" out of the water as they go? - Sorted!
Paul Kennedy
The RN has been told to respect their "HumanRights" http://tinyurl.com/5dy2oj One assumes that if any are taken captive, they will ask for and be given asylum in the UK

You would think so Observer...until western leaders get involved. Just wondering if any Chinese vessels are having piracy problems.
observer
Interesting you mention the Chinese: they plan to up=grade and enlarge their Navy, which is a good indicator of their future global Imperial ambitions.
