Eagle
Anyone any idea of the percentage of households that actually pay, how many should but fail to and how many don't pay? If all the above did pay by how much would it reduce the bill of the payers?
Evil Sid
there will be a lot less paying at the moment as anybody receiving any form of benefit can claim for it. so all those now out of work and on JSA, ESA or any other benefit might not be paying any council tax or very little depending on circumstances. councils could be in for a grim time of it on that basis alone. it is no wonder they are trying to save money by cutting jobs. byrdy
as anybody receiving any form of benefit can claim for it. Wrong!!I receive incapacity benefit but still pay full council tax.
Evil Sid
you can still claim for it but as i said it depends on your circumstances eg how much you have stashed away in the bank etc. if you have more than a certain amount then you have to pay the full council tax. less than that and they give you a discount based on what you have. the less money you have the less you pay. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/On_a_low_income/DG_10018923 give details on what you MAY be able to get

observer
Don't think "the Council" make the rules on these matters - they, like many other things, are set by "National" Government.
