Eagle
As a consequence of the shambles in Antigua I found myself watching the Wales v England match. I am not au fait with all the rules but I feel that England were stitched up by the referee who had read the well documented 'lack of discipline'. Most of the penalties and both of the yellow cards were rubbish decisions by Caplan (Chaplin would be a better description.). England made Wales work hard for their victory but an example of the bias in the officiating by the clown was his handling of offside. When England offended they were penalised, when Wales offended they were told to get back. There was too much kicking aimlessly for the game to be a spectacle but England deserved better from a ref who took ages to get the scrum formed to his satisfaction whilst ignoring blatant feeding. inky pete
I'd tend to agree about the quality of the referee-ing, Eagle. But hey ho, at least in rugby most people adhere to the maxim that "the ref ain't always right - but he's always the ref." England did make Wales work hard for their victory, and it wasn't the massacre which some had predicted.
