Geoffrey Settle
Perhaps I should have used the expression - 'Pressure Group' then. I have in mind a group who have no political affiliation or axe to grind. . I believe that what they are efter is a 'statutory' service requirement' and they have written to the executive council as their first step. observer
Still "political", albeit non-Party! But I got the impression that your MP deals with everything to do with "the Council"?!
Geoffrey Settle
Am I reading Celia Jordan's letter in the press yesterday right? She thanks the children of local schol for writing to Paula Darlington about the litter and dog poo in Peel Hall park. She then goes on to write: Perhaps when the litter is cleared the children (with supervision) could help to keep it attractive - the Street Scene team would be delighted to have help and would ensure their safety. Celia Jordan -LibDem Clr for Stockton Heath - March 5) I think that this smacks of child labour, an under resourced Street Scene and lack of Park Rangers. Paul Kennedy
One persons waste is anothers pet project, I thought Paul was going to wage a war on "waste" on the Council, only to discover he's been spending time on a committee considering arguements for an increase in Member Allowances! I am Observer, quietly in the background and proffering my advice. Problem is I'm up against the likes of Geoff who wants to have more spent on his pet projects. Allowances ....I'm looking to simplify the process. Much better if there was some nationally agreed scheme.
Geoffrey Settle
You may be fine where you are Paul but the children are writing to Paula Darlington telling her that they are NOT satisfied with your groups level of service and cut backs. If that's yours and Celias smug reply then so be it but it's not good enough!!!
observer
You'll never rationalise the budget without breaking a few eggs; unfortunately, we have activities and expenditure by the Council that have evolved historically, represent duplication, and keep a few vested interests employed - wonder if they've finally got a tracking system for their cheques to such groups, to ensure they are actually spent on organisational activity and not on a personal trip to India every year?! Similarly, you won't resolve the allowance system, as the folk with "an interest" are the folk making the decisions; hence efforts to make the process "independent" - which evidently has now been superceded. While your at it, you could be promoting a "national" pay scale for ALL Officer posts, including CEOs, might stop the Premiere League style wage inflation! Geoffrey Settle
So what you are saying is that if you had been or ever got into a position of influence you would have changed or will change things? You seem to be very knowledgeable about such matters why is it that you have never pursued a career in local politics?
Peter T
I await his response with anticipation. LOL Geoff, I think that was one of the reasons that made the previous Leader unpopular.
observer
Oh so naive Geoffrey: to believe one individual, no matter in what position, can dictate policy, when surrounded by fawning sycophants merely promoting (and voting for) their own special interests. Geoffrey Settle
Well Pete we have his answer and that is NO and what's more he is blaming others for any leadership failings.
observer
Your knowledge of history is extremely limited Geoff.
Geoffrey Settle
Is that the best that you can come up with?... my knowlegde is based on information received over the years. Speaking of further information the Lib/Dem to cancel Service Level Agreements required to protect SINCs. This will have a big negative impact on Warrington's Biodiversity. Geoffrey Settle
It's probably best if I start a new thread on the topic and explain in plainer english
