observer
Started watching this again; and it appears to be one of the better war films, as it seems to rely on the factual experiences of veterans.
Steve the Original
I quite like the series, very well made and something you can watch over again... Steve
observer
Perhaps you can answer this one Ste? During WW2, the German Paras (Flugeshirmjager?) were part of the Luftwaffe; I think the Germans currently have an Airborne Brigade - are their Paras still members of the Airforce or the Army? observer
During WW2 they were part of the Luftwaffe, as were the "flak" gunners; believe Goring (as chief of the Airforce) even had a Panzer Division!
Adam
I agree it was a good series, Obs. But why watch it again? Would you read it again if it was a book?
Bonzodog
Can't speak for Obs, Adam, but I certainly both watch & read the other series I mentioned occassionally (spelling?)
observer
I actually missed a couple of episodes first time round, but I've found it to be one of the better quality productions (by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg); based on real accounts, so not the usual Hollywood historical distortions.
