Observer II
As I understand it, the unofficial painting of walls and sides of buildings, is classed as vandalism. But if Banksy does it, it's called art and deserving of protection. Go figure ! 😗
ninearches
Bit of a headscratcher , but i suppose some walls do look better with a mural . Perhaps art & graffiti are just two sides of the same coin depending on where you live & your perceived educational talents.
Evil Sid
art is very confusing, at least to me. a decorators cover sheet splattered with paint is not classed as art unless you are Jackson Pollock. an unmade bed is classed as lazy unless you are Tracy Emin. even the old masters are suspect. pictures of nude or semi nude women is classed as pornography unless you bung in a few urns or cherubs and then it is art. a pile of bricks in a builders yard is not art, a pile of bricks in an art gallery is art, well unless they are having renovations done. art is what you make of it and each persons perception of what is art is different even though many agree that something is art not one will give you the same answer as to why it is art.
Bill
Maybe we should invite him to Warrington. There’s a few of our backstreets that could benefit from a splash of new paint. 😊 Bill 😊

Bit like politics then ! 😉
ninearches
Maybe the urns were added once the old masters came off the top shelf or from under the medieval counter Sid.

No idea about that, i just know what I like.....🧐 just thought of something else, in the absence of urns or cherubs look for fruit or ferns to show that it is art. i can admire the skill it takes to create a piece of art be it a Dali or a Banksy. The fact that Banksy can create such artwork in such a short space of time is quite a feat.
