Observer II
Though it started under the last Government, the practise of hitting Water Companies with huge fines for polluting our rivers and lakes etc, needs some scrutiny. Because these fines don't hit the Company bosses or their share holders, but are just passed on in price rises to customers, it amounts to a Gov tax on the people, without any mitigation of the original pollution. This form of indirect taxation occurs with the various ULEZ schemes in London and merely constitute another mechanism for wringing more money out of the general population, so no wonder people worry about the cost of living. 😠
