Geoffrey Settle
There have appeared 5 new telegraph poles, a unit and a small pole on Blackbrook Ave since I've been away - does anyone know what they are for? Presumably planning permission has been aprove and backed by the local authorities? Is this a new radio mast for the new mobile generation of mobile phones? Peter T
And I thought that you had your fingers on the pulse and had all the contacts.
Geoffrey Settle
No as I stated above I know nothing about this just like you it seems unless you want to ask one of your orange friends of is it BT.
reader
There is/was a piece of paper attached, but when I passed didnt have time to stop and look, I think the cables go from the poles underground (will stand correction on that one but thats how it looked)
Geoffrey Settle
There is mention on one about Fibre Optic Cables but no more, I'v emailed the contact centre to find out more.
Peter T
Couldn't your cllrs advise?
Geoffrey Settle
They obviously didn't object to it so perhaps I should give them a call. They must have given it their blessing so all those years of objections down the drain. Mind you I could be wrong - you've got more of an ear to the ground around here than me, maybe you could ask your mates?
reader
I stopped and read last night, the document (from BT) says if any there are objections you should complain to .... As the Padgate Exchange is due for upgrade to 21CN at the end of this year and operational I think in 2010 I suspect its for new lines. Geoffrey Settle
Just driven down the avaenue today and there is a massive crane and traffic lights - THE MAST is being hauled into place as I type

Geoffrey Settle
Oh well after years of fighting against a mast looks like they've gone and done it I just hope that the fall out on St Bridgets Primaty School and Welsby Close isn't too much. Bill
Geoff In comparison to conventional old wooden telephone poles strung with wires, that looks pretty inconspicuous to me. It?s also worth remembering that the ?fallout? as you call it is inversely proportional to the number of such masts, so if you want less fallout, then don?t object to their erection! Peter T
I can't see what the problem is. It blends in well with the lamp-posts. In fact you should complain that the lamp-posts are not aesthetically pleasing.
Bill
Looks like a very pleased lamp post to me. Bill
Bazj
It is a mobile mast by the looks of it.... we have a few down the length of Cromwell Avenue and no one has died yet..... maybe a little less paranoia may be in order??
observer
Anyone who uses a mobile phone has no right to complain!
Geoffrey Settle
Anyway we'll just have to put up with this piece of furniture until it goes limp - but watch out becuase there will be loads of erections taking place all over Warrington to please the mobile fraternity. But as the good Doctor warns Dr Coghill said: ?There is a body of research that has over the years pointed to the fact that exposure to mobile radiation can lead to depression. There is evidence of higher suicide rates where people live near any electrical equipment that gives off radio or electrical waves.?
Bill
Given most of the exposure to electromagnetic radiation comes from a phone held a few millimetres from the brain, then anything that reduces the level of this radiation has to be good thing. Having more local masts dramatically reduces the amount of RF energy needed and it certainly isn?t the case as many anti mast campaigners think, that more masts means more radiation. In fact just the opposite is true. Bill
Eagle
You can't let the truth get in the way of a campaign. Perhaps crusade may be better?
