observer
- repair lap-tops these days or do you just have to throw them away?
Paul Kennedy
They can be repaired, however when you can buy a new one for little over ?300, it is all a question of "economics". I'm on my 3rd one in the space of about 4 years. Sony, then an Acer now a Dell. The fact that they are portable clearly affects their lifespan....although mine normally remains on my desk, reason I like them is their compactness. PS Certainly helps keep the Chinese employed....although just looking under my Dell it says "Made in Ireland"......followed by Chinese characters after it. squirgle
It all depends what the problem is. Most of the stuff in laptops is soldered on so you have to replace the whole thing if anything goes wrong. Hard Drives and RAM are relatively easy to replace yourself if that's the problem.
