Observer II
Well, Tory MPs worried about their seats, have called a "no confidence" ballot on the PM, and it's looking like Boris is now a dead man walking. If they sack him, who do they have with the gravitas to replace him and the commitment to the policies that won the 2019 election that saw record support for the Tories ? Alas, the Tories have thrown away the promise of "getting Brexit done", with a cabal of Remoaners seizing the opportunity to ditch him and rely on a change of mood in a fickle electorate to deliver another hung parliament, determined to overthrow the wishes of the people in the Brexit Referendum. So the ship of State will be left without a Captain or any sense of direction. 😠
Bill
We’ll just have to wait and see but it’s not a done deal and he still might survive the day. Despite all the partygate stuff, I like Boris for the enthusiasm and positivity he brings, and it’d be a shame to lose him based on some booing from what could well have been an orchestrated crowd. Bill 😊
Observer II
Don't think that "booing" was significant Bill, the BBC and others just played it up for all it was worth (neutrality eh ?). The problem imo with Boris is; that while he can be entertaining and even likable on a personal basis, he has no conviction or real political beliefs, just tempory fads that can be fuelled by those around him, especially his wife; none of which relate to "getting Brexit done", like getting rid of the N/I protocol and cementing the Union, or saving the cultural identity of the Nation by deporting migrants who have no emotional stake in our Country. The question is, will leave voters realise, that the election of a lab/Lib/SNP hung parliament will mean reneging on Brexit and being drawn into the EU again on much more unfavourable terms. If we don't get this right, the only losers will be the 17.5 million who voted for an independent G/Britain. 😠
ninearches
I'm sure the powerbrokers in the UK have been doing their best all along to take us back into Europe. Boris's predicament could be a big tick on their list, especially if a Remainer becomes PM.
Observer II
It's been our history Dave: the biggest revolution we had, in which the peasants discovered they were the equal in battle to the royals; should have delivered the vote to all. But alas, Cromwell sold out the levellers, the diggers etc; in favour of retaining political control within the middle class, landed gentry. The white working class have to know their place - at the bottom of the food chain. 😠
