observer
At a time when ads our appearing about "the people's post office"; the Government Minister responsible has said 3,000 need to be closed, added to which PostCom has suggested it needs privatising. So much for the PR campaigns of our MPs.
Peter T
It must cost a tidy penny or two for the advertising. Perhaps they are trying to keep the profits down, so they can maintain their argument about non-profit making closures.
Legion
I just don't understand how the post office is failing. they cant blame the internet, I know things like online banking must reduce some mail usage but in the past 10 years I have never known so much bumpf mail in the post, and nor have I usecd the post office so much with the success of the likes of ebay, suddenly the country is inundated with bedroom businesses all using royal mail. this can be nothing other than mis-management. observer
It all depends as to whether you consider the Post Office as a "public service" or a vehicle for "private profit". The EU are dictating the latter, and this Government are meekly conforming - as usual.
asperity
As busual Obs you have hit the nail on the head. Our leaders in Brussels are driving the royal Mail to the wall so that they can then pull all the private companies under their canopy of legislation. It's all about EU control. observer
Just wonder whether the French are taking notice of this edict; it's a while since I posted a French letter!
