Observer II
I was reminded by Jeff Taylor on YouTube of the estimated £2 trillion bill that we will have to pay for the cost of the pandemic. So no doubt Ric Sunak will be working on a variety of tax hikes that will see us all paying the price, and paying for a very long time. Observer II
As if that wasn't enough - there's soon to be the removal of the cap on energy prices, which should see a big rise in electricity bills. Add to this a compulsory switch to EV'S, which still require power stations, and for most folk the future looks bleak indeed; seems the eco-lobby are going to take us all back to year zero. 😠
Davy51
Luckily the environment minister can jet off to 30+ countries to drum up interest in the autumn climate conference.

It is being recalculated based on current wholesale prices, if they fall so will the capped price at a future date. The main increase is in the wholesale price of natural gas. Remember too that it only affects those on variable rate tariffs but that include pre-payment customers. Electricity prices are rising most because of the eco-warriors demand for connectivity for ever growing number of wind turbines and solar panels, for which the existing grid design remains mostly inadequate.
Observer II
The direction of travel with all this zero carbon tripe, is to make the rich richer and the poor poorer. btw the UK's carbon contribution to the planet is less than 1%; unlike India and China at over 40%. 😠
