Observer II
A liberal pro-immigrant charity is now complaining that a reverse flow is occurring, with asylum seekers escaping UK interment and trying to smuggle themselves back to France; complaining that interment facilities are bad and demanding they be housed in hotels. Just another one and a half million left to escape then. 😠 A Pritti poor state of affairs with this year's invasion estimated to reach record levels; time for Patel to get a grip. 😠

Observer II
I can only put the lethargy down to civil service resistance or incompetance; and HR legislation being abused by liberal lawyers, that needs repealing. 😠
Evil Sid
Problem is that the french are arresting them when they arrive and shipping them back here. Unlike us who just accept them and put them up in accommodation. it's like a monty python sketch.
Observer II
Well Pritti appears to talk the talk, but is long overdue in walking the walk - she needs to remove all possibility of legal abuse by HR lawyers, by a review of current legislation and treaties, which can be changed by act of parliament, and allow for the immediate deportation of any illegal entrant into the UK, and allow for the deportation of those still here pursuing spurious asylum claims or those who have disappeared into the crowd. 😠
asperity
Easier said than done. The HR lawyers are making a nice living out of these kind of cases and any attempt to curtail their activities are likely to prolong the process rather than streamline it. Unless you make it illegal to be a lawyer and lock them all up 🤣.
Observer II
They could start with with making legal aid available to proven UK citizens; which would hit the pockets of the HR lawyers and save the tax-payers a few bob. 😉
asperity
I can imagine the lawyers could clog up the courts for months, if not years, arguing against any such measures Obs. Courts have a tendency not to rush to judgement on anything.
Observer II
Lawyers and Judges interpret the law, Parliament makes it, or should do. 😷
Evil Sid
perhaps these hr lawyers should be made to undertake work for free. If they had to do that i wonder how many cases would be represented....🤔
asperity
5 hours ago, Observer II said: Lawyers and Judges interpret the law, Parliament makes it, or should do. 😷 Which is exactly why these cases take so long to go through the courts. If you change the law the lawyers will take even longer arguing against it. Perhaps the government should employ better lawyers?
Observer II
Better Judges methinks; and better drafted laws that leave no room for misinterpretation. 😠
asperity
Judges have all the time in the world, and they tend to use it.
