The problem is, even the "experts" disagree with each other,Ā  the Gov are so anxious about the economy and public opinion that they can't hit the brakes hard enough to bring down the "R" factor, and of course, there's a minority cohort of corvidiots doing everything to undermine everyone else's safety.Ā  The fact is the majority of the public are supportive of draconion action, but require clear and concise messaging from Gov.Ā  EG: Why close the pubs an hour early, if a close public environment is a risk, they should be closed period, such half hearted, toe in the water action is useless.Ā  Ā šŸ˜ Ā  Ā šŸ˜·

Unfortunately they don't want to upset anybody. The pub point is nothing like as simple as you make out. As I understand it the pubs are not intrinsically dangerous when everyone is sitting down with table service (Salt Like City Style!) but intoxicated drinkers are the problem so the pubs can't let them drink enough to get merry and uninhibited. It is always the people that are the problem.

You also need to re-read what Asp wrote carefully, he made a very relevant point although somewhat obliquely.

Perhaps the 10pm closing will mean that more people are in the pubs altogether rather than spread out over the length of the evening. Shorter opening hours could make matters worse ,considering many people are creatures of habit & are being forced to go in earlier than they normally would.

Ā

What I want to know from the council is what group of people, say age and ethnicity, are catching it and where does test and trace say it is being transmitted. People need this information to realise whether they are at risk. They need this info now and about local cases with no political correctness or not wanting to blameĀ  groups. This situation is way past that sort of behaviour. Time for truth methinks

They probably don't know that sort of information as a certainty.

Most statistics are along the lines of number tested 100, number tested positive 10, geographical area they come from.

Name and address required information.

Things like age and ethnicity are probably optional information.Ā

A look at any sort of form will show this, usually age range 10-20 20-30 etc. ethnic background white british, asian, other etc.

Even sexual orientation is a pick and mix selection these days as more letters of the alphabet are added to the descriptions.

Think that goes without saying Asp;Ā  in order to for success, these lockdowns have to be total and draconian - which is difficult in a "freedom loving democracy".Ā  The origin of this pandemic, China;Ā  has proved lock downs to work and they now claim to have the first viable vaccine.Ā  Ā  Ā šŸ˜·

I think you're very naiive to believe anything China claims Obs.

Didn't say I believed it - everything with a huge pinch of salt.Ā  Ā Mind you, makes for a great conspiracy theory - manufacture a pandemic, then come up with a vaccine for sale - clever folk these Chinese.Ā  Ā  Ā šŸ˜·

What you said Obs- "The origin of this pandemic, China;Ā  has proved lock downs to work" - Sounds like you've fallen for that bit of their propoganda. They say that their lockdown worked, although it may have involved getting rid of some inconvenient bodies evidence.

There are no guarantees in life anyway Obs, but the percentage of Covid deaths over the age of 65 is over 89%, which seems to suggest that it's the old and vulnerable that are at risk. It's the old and vulnerable that should be locked away for their own safety not University students!
