Observer II
Seems the Gov plan for a two year emergency package, which will inevitably compromise cherished freedoms, has come under fire from some MPs; who wish to limit the possibility of a totalitarian scenario in response to the CV crisis. In a fast moving emergency, where decisiveness is paramount, it seems they want a piece of the action, and limit the powers of the executive, just as they did in the last Parliament with Brexit. Still pursuing their anti-Brexit hopes, the Lib Dems are calling for an extension to EU negotiations, planned to end (with or without a deal) by 2021. Whilst I'm sure we can all criticise Boris for either being too slow and too soft, or of being too draconian; the fact is in these kind of circumstances a clear line of command and control needs to be established and respected, in order to get through it. Despite the huge unprecedented commitments being made by Government, to safeguard the wellbeing of the population, we've still got Labour politicians saying "it's not enough", and arguing for more joint commitees to vet decision making, and thus imo slow it down. Seems that at such a critical time, they can't ditch their habit of partisan politics.
asperity
It seems that the media and the opposition MPs are trying to lay the blame for the pandemic at Boris' door (and at Trump's in the USA) and, in the case of the media, trying to avoid laying the blame on the true cause - the Communist Party in China which tried to cover up the outbreak of the virus, and delayed warning the world of what was happening. Socialism - murdering millions for over a hundred years and counting.
Davy51
I think we should be grateful that Jezza isn't in charge of the current situation. Decisive action would not be on his agenda.
Observer II
He can't even self isolate, as being over 70 he should; prefers being an example to those idiots who ignore Gov advice.
