Catalan Dragons

Wire further opened the gap on the Dragons with a comprehensive 34-4 victory at the Halliwell Jones. Catalan went ahead after 10 minutes, against the run of play, with a try in the corner. After wire equalised through a fine individual try by Clark on the half hour they then took the game by the scruff of the neck, Austin scoring just before the break to make the half-time score 12-4. In the second half Catalan didn't get a look in with Wire scoring 3 more tries through Goodwin, Akauola and Charnley, with Patton converting all 5 tries and scoring 2 penalty goals. Tomkins didn't have anything to complain about in the game, but that didn't stop him 🤣.

Special mention goes to 17 year old Josh Thewlis, who was making his debut playing at full back in the absence of injured Ratchford and Mamo who is serving a one match ban. He played a fine game and went off near the end to an appreciative ovation from the 10,015 strong crowd.

Not the best first half but far better in the 2nd half with alot more aggression and line speed.

Josh had a solid debut even though they did try and target him.

Agreed, but Catalan never really raised a threat, and Wire's discipline was much improved.
