asperity
Off to a tame start, but tonight's Spain/Portugal game brought some excitement back. It'll all die away again with England/Tunisia though .

Which suggests that even the VAR ref was biased too.
asperity
I think there's actually 4 refs watching the screens for VAR, so that would be a lot of brown envelopes..........................................

Davy51
If Columbia had left their spoiling tactics in the dressing room & played football from the start they would have won that game easily in the 90 minutes. Too much negative play from England ,passing back to the goal keeper & lucky Columbia didn't poach a couple of scoring opportunities. asperity
So that's it, end of the dream. Unfortunately several players (Kane, Alli, Lingard specially) didn't turn up on the night. Henderson, who has exceeded expectaion up until now, wasn't in the game at all. Sterling was, as usual, quick in the first half but has no end product. Pickford in goal was excellent but his defence let him down. Croatia were nothing special but could finish. So France it is as World Champions on Sunday. Davy51
There can be no arguments ,the best team won. I think the game changed in Croatia's favour when England started involving Pickford in many of their passing moves & Croatia began to dominate the play with a structured & patient attack. Davy51
Exactly, & it's a pretty sad reflection on the English game when a country that came into being only 20 years & is only a fraction of the size of its parent country, the former Yugoslavia, knocks us out of the World Cup. Evil Sid
Could have been worse, England could have won, still there is the next one to look forward too when all the old songs will be out and the pundits dusted off for their views on what the team should have done. Stallard12
Striker Harry Cane, only one shot on target in the last four games! Don't think that is a formula for success. In fact, does anyone know how many 'shots' he had? I know that he missed a couple of good chances. Just finished watching the runner up game. - same old story, great running around, but no idea where the goal is - maybe the get picked by mileage. English players of the tournament : Maguire, Pickford and Trippier.
