observer
Precisely the argument against them Diz. But the anti-Brexit forces don't appear to respect "democracy" unless they're doing the democking. Aside from Jeremy, Tim and Nicola; we've now got Mandy Mandleson and that arrogant Gina Millar, trying to fund and encourage tactical, anti-Brexit voting; so the PM was right in calling this election, in order (hopefully), to rid Parliament of these anti-democratic elements and provide a stable Government that will "just get on with it". PS: according to the guy who drafted "article 50" and to some EU mandarins, it can be revoked, hence their motivation to give us a really bad deal, in the hope of another "change of mind" referendum. Dizzy nothing in politics lasts for too long or is ever as it seems - obs is just expressing his opinion - and that after all imo that politics is a fundamentally a matter of peoples opinions. However the people have voted and a letter of intent sent so at least one of the ropes securing SS GB has been cast aside and the boat is setting sail - it's just a question of where we are going in this big ocean and how rough the waves are going to be and whether there are any mines floating in the channel
Davy51
Our best hope is a Marine le Pen victory to throw the EU into disarray. There is a big wide world out there for us to trade with ,away from these petty minded bureaucrats.
observer
A statement of the rather obvious Geoff; but what isn't "opinion", are the proposals on policy from the various Parties; and to use your analogy - " No wind is favourable, if you don't know to which port you are sailing". Unfortunately Dave; the French electoral system favours the centre candidate, as in the run off, the left and the soft right, will vote against Le Pen, by supporting Macron. However, having underestimated the forces behind the Brexit and Trump vote, I hope I'm wrong again !
Davy51
A sad state of affairs but the terror attacks could galvanise many voters into voting for Le Pen & her isolationist policies.
observer
Let's hope so. Macron visited a factory, that was due to close due to re-location to Poland; to speak to TU reps. Meanwhile, Le Pen met with protesting workers outside. Later, when confronted by the workers, Macron had the hard faced arrogance to suggest that the move would benefit them, as they could buy cheaper washing machines from Poland. This is typical of the contempt that the EU elite have for the working class; let's hope they return that contempt at the election.
