Bazj
To quote one of the comments....: "There were those who no doubt said that the UK would be worse if we weren't in the euro."
Dizzy
Not really, but I don't think boys should be brought up with dolls either.... Why what harm does it do ?
P J
To quote one of the comments....: "There were those who no doubt said that the UK would be worse if we weren't in the euro." It does say that, it then goes on at length to explain why that is wrong. Good to see a balanced report
observer
Healthy economy? Is that why the ECB is pumping in a trillion euros to save the euro zone from deflation?!
P J
Don't know if you know but Britain isn't part of the Euro zone which renders your point meaningless
observer
Errm, but the Euro zone IS part of the EU, just in case it slipped your attention; which includes the economic basket cases of Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal; all suffering punitive austerity. ! The good news is a devalued euro will make goods and holidays cheaper; but the bad news is it will be harder for us to export to them; a key ingredient of any recovery for us. P J
And not Britain
observer
Oh ! So Britain is no longer in the EU then; with Greece (at the moment!), Italy and the rest ?!
P J
Is it in the euro zone?
observer
It's in the EU, which includes the Euro zone, and all affect each other.
P J
It's s global marketplace now and all events affect everywhere else. Despite the dream that some deluded folk have of returning Britain to a state of Splendid Isolation, it's where we are
observer
Errm; "global market place"; best tell that to the rest of the world; that has to pay tariffs to get goods into the EU.
P J
as would we if we left. If tariffs are being paid all over the world it means that trade is global. Are you even going to deny the existence of global trade? You even accuse others of having their head in the sand, you seem prone to this particular trait. observer
Quite the contrary, but global trade exists with or without the EU; free trade is something else.
P J
Who mentioned free trade?
