Adam
Has anyone noticed that in "period" films and TV programmes set in the Fifties and Sixties, the wardrobe team always seem to get it wrong. I lived through these periods and I know we didn't dress like that! It seems film makers are either ignorant and don't research dress fashions sufficiently or feel it is necessary to deliberately go back to an earlier period to get over the fact that they are talking about the past. Nearly all the Fifties and Sixties films and TV programmes I have seen recently showed people actually wearing clothes from the Twenties and Thirties. I'd be interested to know if others (of the appropriate generation, of course!) think the same.
Jerry
I never noticed that in any American films. In fact I have to laugh when I see the leisure suits of the 70s, and sometimes the color combinations - such as lime green and coral for the 70s, popularized by Miami Vice at that time. The haircuts are especially jarring. Especially the sixties hairstyles on ladies. I'll bet if it does happen it's because the actors don't want to look ridiculous. tonymaillman
Films made about earlier history are also as bad, the wearing of clothing, armour etc that wasn't even around at the time is more and more commonplace in a lot of films nowadays !! I tend to watch them just to see how wrong they've got it !!!!

Peter T
TMM, I've heard some excuses in my life, but that takes the biscuit. Even Blair and his spin doctors couldn't come up with that one.
