Gary
Seems strange timing to officially announce his retirement at end of season! http://www.warrington-worldwide.co.uk/articles/18443/1/Monaghan-confirms-retirement-at-end-of-season/Page1.html He said at the start it would probably be his last - so why make a "big" announcement over the weekend after a great performance against Leeds? Bizarre.
Davy51
If it's for medical reasons he may only play in certain games & let Brad Dwyer into a more prominent role. At least the club will have more time to prepare for his departure from the field unlike when Lee Briers had to retire suddenly.
Sheila_P
He really has been taking too many knocks. Maybe he saw what happened to Joel on Friday night and decided. Not convinced about that because the statement came out too quickly. Others, elsewhere are speculating on an announcement relating to Clarke from Cas. I think we all expected Monas to retire at the end of this season - he indicated he was thinking of doing so last season but was convinced otherwise by TS. He's been great for us but father time catches up with us all eventually. We've been linked with Clarke from Cas since last year - allegedly we signed him last year and paid a transfer fee that enabled Cas to survive and he's due here next season. Whether this is true or not who knows - but he's a fantastic player in the Roby mode and still very young and would be a very welcome addition to our squad.
