One of our planes is missing -

Given that no one has a clue as to the whereabouts of, or what happened to the Malaysian airliner; and all the "news" items amount to theory and speculation; would it be preferable if the media ceased reporting non-news until they have something tangible to report?

There was an article in the paper last weekend saying that if the relevant equipment is turned off on the plane it can't be tracked by radar ,& to think they've spent billions developing stealth planes.

You would think though that the controls for disabling the tracking system would be located  on the outside of the plane so they couldn't be operated by  hijackers .

................why is this wall to wall on the news; when there is no news?

Because there were 227 passengers and 12 crew on board maybe... who were other peoples husbands, wives, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, nieces, nephews..... etc.

Would you prefer them to say nothing about the fact that a plane load of people has been ''lost' ?

It does all sound a bit strange though.......

But they've got absolutely zilch to tell these relatives yet; and these relatives won't be satisfied until they see the remains of the passengers; which, based on the Air France incident, could take another two years searching the sea bed with robot subs.
