ThatCrazyLady
Hello! Where can you advertise cars locally for free? I'm selling my VW Polo and have put it on the usual Gumtree and Preloved - but do local papers accept ads? Or is there a local car trade paper? Thankyou
Davy51
The Warrington Guardian does car adverts but i don't know what they charge . Have you tried a card in a shop window or ,if you are on facebook mention it on there . There is also the north west Auto Trader which specialises in advertising cars for sale . ThatCrazyLady
Hi, Thankyou! I don't have facebook (oh the freedom!) I'll pop it in the local supermarkets I know of Autotrader but they also charge a fee
Bazj
Ebay is a good place.... national coverage and quite a low fee considering you get a countrywide advert.
ThatCrazyLady
I know - Ebays great! I'm a bit of a cheap arse tho and will try and sell it for free before I will pay!
Bazj
Then you have to hope there is someone in Warrington that wants a VW polo of the spec you are selling I guess.... plus if you sell it locally there is always a chance you will be plagued with calls from the buyer if anything goes wrong! speculate to accumulate is the phrase I believe.... ThatCrazyLady
I'll see how it goes - if I get no bites will pop it on ebay And who ever buys it will most likely be localish - who drives miles and miles to buy a car? Evil Sid
I bought my present motor bike from birmingham. Got the brother to take me down there and rode it back. He has also bought his latest day van from a place in southampton. went down on train and drove it back. So you would be surprised. if somebody wants it for the price then they will travel the distance to get it.
Davy51
Does said Polo have a built in tea urn ?
ThatCrazyLady
Does said Polo have a built in tea urn ? I wish! We have just bought a passat estate (better to the gallon and can actually fit the dog in the back!) Went to Formby beach in it the otherday and noticed it has little power outlets in the back - perfect for a mini kettle.....
Bazj
I'll see how it goes - if I get no bites will pop it on ebay And who ever buys it will most likely be localish - who drives miles and miles to buy a car? My last 5 cars have all been bought from miles away... One Corsair came from the Isle of Wight, one from down near Brighton and another Corsair from South London. 2 Mercs also from London and a Merc from Birmingham. I have also sold cars to people from all over the country..... You would be very surprised how far people will travel for the right car! Rockcutting
Autotrader Magazine is now defunct, only available on-line. Why would someone with such a low value car post this on here?
Davy51
I didn't know that Rockcutting....i usually get my runabouts by word of mouth. I don't expect a lot from a cheap banger but the last 2 have got me over ten years of happy & fairly cheap motoring.
Dizzy
Autotrader's better online RC as you can search for specific cars, area or price range and saves having to read through every damn advert like you had to in the paper version. Costly to advertise though (not that I have ever used it as I don't want a newer car)
ThatCrazyLady
The Polo is the newest car I've ever owned - my other car is a classic mini - in all fairness its been nice to have heating options other than just on/off...... ThatCrazyLady
And RC I don't quite understand what your saying? Do you mean you think my car is worthless and no point in selling it? Or are you saying this forum is only for people with expensive cars? When I signed up to this forum I don't remember a box having to declare my income?? Gary
I used a car sourcing company for my last vehicle exchange - you tell them what you want and your budget - they find the best vehicle matching your spec - deliver it to your home and take the old one in part exchange - they even gave me a better trade in price than a main dealer! Dizzy
I didn't get what he meant either CrazyL.... maybe it's a man + car thing PS How olds your polo as both my (err 'our') cars are over 15 years old and ones done over 130k miles..... and I've only got £3.27 in my purse
Dizzy
I've never heard of car sourcing companies Gary apart from the similar sounding types who prey on autotrader type sellers and say they can sell your car for you. Is that the same ? Are yours local and do you get to test drive and check it over before you get it ?
Davy51
Dizzy . , does car sourcing mean stolen ? lol
